Bobby and Emily first met over a spring break mission trip in 2012. Their schools shared a bus traveling to Florida and they hung out with the same group of people during the week. Fun fact, I was also on that bus and first met Emily in that week too! Their friendship with each other began and continued when they returned home. A few months later they started dating!
Three years after that first mission trip to Florida, Bobby and Emily went every year after. In 2015, for their last time, Bobby started out the week by giving Emily a notecard explaining she would be getting multiple cards from him throughout the week. Each card would be an event that had to happen in order for them to have met three years ago. Each card began with "What if..." and asked what would've happened if that event never took place. Each day Emily would receive new cards from Bobby, and together they would reminisce about the memories they have shared. Halfway through the week, Bobby told Emily there was a letter of the alphabet on the back of each card and that they would spell something out at the end of the week. He told her to bring all of the cards to dinner on Friday night when the two schools walk down the beach to an outdoor restaurant where they get to eat dinner overlooking the ocean and watch the sun fall past the waves. After dinner, Bobby had Emily put the cards in chronological order of the events on them, explaining that once they were in order, then the words on the other side would be in order. They laid the cards in the sand and Emily read what they spelled, "What if you married me?" Bobby told Emily that despite that week being their last adventure together at Big Break, he wanted a lifetime of adventures with her. Bobby pulled out a ring and asked Emily to marry him, and she said YES!!
Many strong friendships began in that very first week in Florida, such as with their future best man and matron of honor (who also met during that week and were married last year!) I don't think the four of them could have predicted the impact that first week would have had years down the road. Eventually leading to Bobby and Emily's wedding day.
Their day was everything a wedding day should be, nothing short of a celebration! They were surrounded by dear friends and family who laughed, cried, and rejoiced the whole day with them. I couldn't help but tear up myself as Emily walked down the aisle towards Bobby, the proudest groom ever! These two were created for each other. I am so glad they met four years ago and so honored to have spent their day with them as they became husband and wife.
