My Word for 2020

Updated: May 20

Do you pick a word for the year?

I LOVE goal-setting, and throughout my process, I discover words and phrases that thread my goals together. I scour over my notes and journals and pick up on the greater themes, the bigger picture of what I'm wanting to do in the new year.

And you guys, I'll just say I love this stuff too, too much. I geek out hard over my Powersheets.

This inward reflection is so intuitive for me this time of year. I dig deep and ask myself the good questions. What worked/what didn't, who do I want to be when I'm 80, and am I on that course, what are my fears, are my identity boxes holding me back, what's my vision for the year, etc. I HIGHLY encourage you to take the time to do this for yourself. If you're not 100% happy/content/thriving/rejoicing over your life. You CAN make changes, but in order for any change to work, you have to know what and why it needs to change first.

Don't over complicate the process.

Leave perfection at the door.

Just sit down, and think, and talk, and write out what comes to mind.

Do it for a few days and see what you find.

I'm telling you it has the potential to change your life.

I've been doing this for a few years now. In 2018 my word was motion, 2019 was delight, and now I'm SoOo excited to finally reveal what my word for 2020 is!

The start of a new decade feels like a fresh start, a clean slate. It's also the year I turn thirty which feels even MORE magical. So I wanted a word that really kicks this decade off well. That grounds me in my goals and big picture dreams, and motivates me in the moments I get stuck. Cause that's really the whole point of the word. A sort of daily mantra, to repeat back and fall back on, to keep us moving towards the target when we stray. Cause I'll tell you, I've got some BIG goals for the new year and I need all the help I can get to stay on track.

For as big as my business goals are, I have big personal goals to match. I want this year to be a year I focus on myself. Deal with my wounds and weaknesses, do the hard work to heal, and let go. I get so stuck in my head sometimes. So stuck in the past instead of living for the future and the next choices that produce the great things that can come. I overthink, over calculate, over criticize, overall.the.things, all before I even give something a try. This limbo halts any chance I even have to make things happen. And I don't think I'm alone in that either. We all have our demons that hold us back, from living out our fullest selves. So I want 2020 to be the year I get unstuck and move onward. The year I move...

Cheers to 2020 friends may you look ahead, not behind. Choose the choices that move you towards + closer to your goals, purpose, and fullest selves. May this be the year we keep taking small yet mighty steps forward.

Much love,

-Kyra W.
